Review of the Day: Blogger Will Hansen

May 11th, 2009

Will HansenWe love bloggers and know they make the world go round, especially when they write great things about the new Midomi app.

Straight from Boston, Will checks out Midomi Ultra and is “newly in love with it”.   Read the entire blog here:  Song Identification iPhone App: Midomi Ultra 2.0

The only major suggestion that Will mentions that we include? “A feature to forcibly remove songs stuck in someone’s head!” Will, we’re working on that function now! It should be perfected in the next 100 years! Love the review buddy, now if only we can travel to Boston for a “company” meetup! I’ll submit my paperwork to HR today…..

Everyone here from Sunny Cali, says “Thanks Will!”

Press Release:::MELODIS Provides Music Search Technology to KDDI’s LISMO, Largest Class Mobile Music Platform, With Integration From SOCKETS for Japan’s Cellular Users

March 27th, 2009
Millions of au Mobile Phone Users Can Now Use Accurate Singing and Humming Search Powered by midomi

KDDI Corporation, Japan’s leading mobile carrier, and SOCKETS Inc., an integrated service, database and embedded solution provider for mobile communications services, will integrate MELODIS’ midomi singing search into LISMO, KDDI’s au mobile music platform. Mobile users will freely sing and accurately and quickly search and discover music using this platform. SOCKETS will coordinate the midomi singing search integration into the LISMO platform.

Yasuyuki Nakajima, Ph.D., General Manager, Media Service Planning Business Department of KDDI, said, “KDDI’s au customers will now have a better way to search for the music they enjoy that’s quick, accurate, and entertaining. MELODIS’ midomi singing search is independent of key, tempo, language, or singing quality, which means our users do not have to be great singers in order for the search to work accurately.”

“The depth and breadth of MELODIS’ music search expertise will enable SOCKETS to integrate and present the industry’s most innovative digital music solution to the Japanese population,” said Kuni Kawashima, Corporate Officer of SOCKETS. “By integrating MELODIS and a slice of the midomi technology into KDDI’s platform, we will provide users with an advanced wireless experience that includes accurate music searches, convenience, and ease of use.”

Fast and Accurate Music Search

midomi singing search is powered by the MELODIS proprietary multimodal adaptive recognition system (MARS), which allows users to easily and intuitively search and discover songs, by singing or humming, in the company’s music database. This technology identifies pitch variation, rhythm information, location of pauses, phonetic content and speech content in user queries, and matches these with songs in the midomi database. Designed to be exceptionally user-friendly, midomi returns highly accurate search results even if the user sings or hums off key, or mispronounces the lyrics.

“We are pleased to be a selected partner for KDDI and SOCKETS, and we see this dual partnership as a stepping stone for creating exciting industry growth and developing new consumer products. MELODIS’ award-winning music search and sound recognition application, midomi singing search, is an ideal product for KDDI, which is also a leading provider of mobile music,” said Keyvan Mohajer, chief executive officer for MELODIS Corporation. “Music search and discovery continues to engage high user participation, and the midomi application can be fully integrated with a carrier’s music strategy to cross market ringtones and music-on-demand services.”

About KDDI Corporation:

au/KDDI is the second largest mobile network in Japan with over 30 million mobile phone subscribers, and a global leader in many areas of technology and services. Based on leading edge technology, KDDI pioneered a variety of wireless services and business models in Japan: mobile music, location-based services, and more. Being the first to introduce flat rate data plans, KDDI forced the competitors to change their business model strategies. KDDI continues to set the agenda in Japan’s hypercompetitive mobile markets. In the fixed line sector, KDDI is one of the first telecom operators globally to convert completely to IP-based operation over a national optical fiber infrastructure. KDDI offers “triple play” (phone, broad band internet and TV) over FTTH, and IP phone over leased copper lines to attack incumbent NTT’s core business models and core income streams. About SOCKETS Inc.:

Established in June 2000, Sockets (formerly Media Socket) is one of the leading companies providing internet service, developing embedded application and database on mobile platforms in Japan.

My Gym Playlist!

March 9th, 2009

Being able to work at midomi means I get to listen to music all day long. Whether it is finding the next up and coming band to feature, adding user renditions to my very own playlist, or adding new content to midomi.com, my ears drums are constantly dancing to a beat.

Recently I joined the gym along with my sister and my mom.  We lift weights, run a couple miles, and just have fun.  The biggest motivation that keeps me going while working out is a having a great music playlist to listen to.

I like everything from pop music to hard core rap to slow jams. Here are some song suggestions that keep me going and keep me having fun!
